Green modern rain garden

This project concerns the transformation of a compact urban garden into a green, architectural outdoor space with a clear spatial structure and strong experiential value. The garden is designed as an extension of the house: a sheltered outdoor room where tranquillity, meeting and nature are central. A wooden pergola structure spans the terrace and forms the spatial framework of the design. Grown with climbing plants, it provides filtered light, shade and an intimate atmosphere. The pergola reinforces the line of sight through the garden and connects the front seating area with the area behind. Large concrete stepping stones with green joints create a clean path that contrasts with the lush planting while providing a low-maintenance paving.

The planting is rich and layered with perennials, ornamental grasses and multi-stemmed trees. Variation in height, texture and flowering time creates a dynamic image that changes throughout the year. Purple and yellow flowering plants provide colour accents, while ferns and ground covers soften the understory. The green yard fences and climbing plants against the walls reinforce the sense of security and privacy. Custom-made wooden seating is integrated into the design and invites to gather and have long meals. The combination of natural materials such as wood, concrete and steel gives the garden a contemporary, minimalist look, while the planting provides warmth and biodiversity. The result is a harmonious balance between clean lines and lush greenery: a sustainable, atmospheric urban garden with a strong identity.
